Shrewley        Parish

AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

Affiliated to Warwickshire Federation of Women's Institutes

W.I.?...Oh, that's not for me! Boring! Old Fashioned!

Stuck in the past!    Not my thing at all!

Why not come along and be proved wrong?

Shrewley WI offers all kinds of opportunites to all kinds of women.

We can help expand your horizons, make new friends, learn new skills or if you just want

to belong to something special, then Shrewley WI could be just for you

We meet on the first Thursday of each month at 2.00 pm in Shrewley Village Hall

Boring?   We have excellent speakers at our meetings, covering a wide variety of topics.   In addition, we organise courses on crafts and other subjects, together with outings to places of interest, and super social evenings, which are open to members and non-members alike.

Stuck in the past?   So what are we doing on this website?   We are part of a go-ahead, campaigning national organisation with a membership well in excess of 200,000, of which 3,500 are in Warwickshire alone. There are many chances to develop existing skills or learn new ones.

We look forward to seeing you and in the meantime, why not click on to our monthly Newsletter

to see what’s going on.

Latest WI news:

Shrewley W.I. have been unable to meet “live” in the village hall since March last year. However, in order to maintain contact and support each other there have been newsletters sent out twice a month and we did manage a social gathering, in two sessions due to Covid, at The Durham Ox in September. We now have Zoom meetings twice a month when members volunteer to demonstrate: we have had hand and arm massage, a cookery demonstration and our next meeting is a talk on reflexology and Reiki. Future events include a poetry afternoon and a hanging basket demonstration.

We are all looking forward to our first live meeting, fingers crossed, on July 1st when we will hear about the life of a lady’s maid.

Our music tribute night had been planned for last year, then June 2021 is now booked for November 27th.

We plan to have a coach trip in the autumn and the committee are all working to plan future events.

Proposed future speakers for 2021 are:

July 1st              Jo Golby                 “Between Stairs”  The life of a ladies maid
August 5th         Summer party         Kath Ryan “Cakes for injured troops”
September 2nd  Maggie Farmer       Queens of Country Music
October 7th       Dr Gillian White       “The Great fire of Warwick”
November 4th    Annual Meeting       (Kim Byrne jewellery to attend)
December 2nd   Christmas Party      Cathy Morris - singer
