BRINGING SUPERFAST BROADBAND TO OUR RURAL AREAS

In preparation for the next stages of the broadband rollout the CSW Broadband project has asked BT to carry out further modelling, based on a spend of £9.5m. This will bring coverage to some of the areas that will not achieve superfast speeds in either Contract 1 or Contract 2, Part 1.

As with previous modelling, it will be some time before the data is received, processed and is ready for publication.

The CSW Broadband project team will continue to keep residents and businesses informed through future newsletters, social media and on the project website. If you have registered for further updates (as opposed to simply signing up for the newsletter) then the team will have your full contact details in their system and can email you when they know what is happening in your area. If you have not yet registered your full details, you can do so by visiting: www.cswbroadband.org.uk/get-involved/register-for-more-information

A reminder that the team are also still looking for additional local broadband champions to help spread the news once upgrades are due to take place in an area. To find out more or to register as a Champion go to www.cswbroadband.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-community-champion

Superfast broadband is available in parts of Shrewley - cabinets have been upgraded, meaning that many properties can now order the improved service.

What should residents do now?

1.  Check which cabinet their property is connected to and whether is has gone live, by going to www.dslchecker.bt.com and entering their landline number

2. Sign up with an Internet Service Provider for superfast services. They should remember to check different providers for the best rates to meet their needs. For more information residents should check out an independent reviewer such as: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband

Parish Defibrillator

Thanks to a grant received from  Warwick Rural West Community Council, there is now an active Defibrillator linked to West Midlands Ambulance Service located at Shrewley Village Hall. This is available for use by anyone in an Emergency upon dialling 999.

Several members of the Parish have undertaken training and further courses will be held in the future.

The Defibrillator is easy to use and full instructions are given whilst using the machine.

Friends of Hatton Station

The popularity of the Station continues to grow, no doubt partly due to the improved car parking facilities. Last year over 40,000 journeys were made; a figure last achieved in the early 1960’s! The existing planter on the station is well tended and watered and a second planter has now been installed. A rainwater collector has also been installed.

A new poster has been installed on the platform, courtesy of Hatton Country World and Chiltern Railways who provided the poster frame. The Friends of Hatton Station section contains a brief history of the station together with several photos of the station in its heyday.

If any residents of Hatton Station would like to join, please contact Cllr Paul Tilley.

Bridge at Hatton Village Hall
