FESTIVAL OF FUN AND FROLICS- An Evening of Christmas

Words and Music

Early in 2008, the Village Hall Committee noticed that several local rural communities had taken the ‘Flicks in the Sticks’ initiative to show movies in their village halls.

Following a trial screening, Shrewley Social Club duly emerged.

The Club has quickly moved on from this initial screening and, following a successful application for an ‘Awards for All’ Lottery grant, has bought its own projector and installed a surround sound system.  New screen and lighting have made the hall an extremely comfortable and pleasant place to meet.

The residents of Shrewley Parish and the surrounding area now enjoy regular informal social evenings and movies roughly every six weeks – the bar is open before and after the screening and there is an interval, when light refreshments are also served.

Many of the members of the Club also belong to other local societies such as the Garden Club and WI but it is encouraging to see that many others are also enjoying our Social Club events.

Life membership of the Club costs only £1 and for this members are kept informed of forthcoming events – details are also posted on this website and on Parish notice boards. The Social Club will be organising events other than film screenings in the future - watch this space!
